SEAMUS premiere

Ali was commissioned by The Society for Electro-Acoustic Music of in the United States (SEAMUS), as the winner of the ASCAP/SEAMUS Competition in 2023. For the commission, the composition “Drowning in Post-Factual Waves” will be premiered at the 2024 SEAMUS Conference at New York University. The piece will be performed by violinist Alexandrina Boyonova.

Microtonal Music Journey with Utar Artun

Berklee College of Music, Boston

Ali joins pianist Utar Artun for an improvisational duo on the violin. The concert will take place at David Friend Recital Hall (DFRH) at 7 pm.

Hypercube Residency

Brandeis University, Waltham

As part of New Music Brandeis, Hypercube will visit Brandeis University for a composition residency. The ensemble and compositions highlight the unique instrumentation of guitar, saxophone, piano, and percussion.

Eclipse Quartet performance

The Eclipse Quartet is celebrating their 20th anniversary. After rave reviews for their west coast premier of Ali’s String Quartet No. 1, they’re bringing their musical talent to the east coast in January. Come celebrate the new year with the Eclipse Quartet and Ali Can Puskulcu at Roulette Intermedium in Brooklyn.

In December, the Eclipse Quartet performed the west coast premier of Ali’s String Quartet No. 1. The concert took place at Monk Space in L.A. Next stop: New York City in January to perform the piece again.

Mizzou International Composers Festival

Columbia, MO

"The Mizzou International Composers Festival -- taking place each July in Columbia, Missouri -- features public concerts, presentations, workshops, and more. Featuring ensemble-in-residence Alarm Will Sound as well as two distinguished guest composers, the festival selects eight resident composers each year through an application process to compose new works that will be premiered by Alarm Will Sound at the festival. During the week, resident composers will rehearse closely with the ensemble, give public presentations on their work, and receive private lessons with the guest composers." -Mizzou New Music Initiative
